Day 5 – 20th June 2005
We went sightseeing today. IT’S RAINING AND COLD! The Kremlin was the first port of call today and the changing of the guard. We then did a tour of the Kremlin. WOW. The cathedrals were all quite small but there was not and inch of wall or ceiling that was not decorated. We spent two hours just wandering around four cathedrals – small churches really. Then we had to escape the rain and cold. We found a nice pub for lunch just across from the Kremlin. HOT MULLED WINE.
It was now time to meet Ulia and find out if she was given her visa to live in Ireland for 1 year. Unfortunately it is no! They do not believe she is only coming to Ireland to dance and qualify as a dance teacher. What a disappointment. We went on to do some shopping – souvenirs for the kids! Now it was time to meet Dima for coffee. It was nice to sit and talk to our good friends from Russia. It very quickly became time for us to go. 8pm and we still haven’t packed.
This trip has been the most amazing of my life. We have met some amazing people here and have found a love for Irish Dance in an area of the world that you would least expect it. My hope is to return again before the end of the year and to continue teaching these great dancers.
My summary of this trip: WOW!
The colour, the buildings
The people
The dance classes
Thank you Ulia and Dima for making it happen
Thank you Niamh for your company.
