Scoil Rince Rooney was established by Therese Rooney McHugh in 1997, when she qualified as a teacher with An Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha.
The school began in the sailing club in Skerries with a weekly class of 8 children. One year later there were more than 20 children and 8 adults in the school.
There are now more than 70 dancers in Skerries and North County Dublin. Therese travels regularly to Moscow, St Petersburg and Finland where she works with local groups. Moscow now have a qualified Ceili Teacher, Igor Denisov who looks after the Russian end of things.
The school changed it's name to Scoil Rince Rooney-Iridan this year to acknowledge the achievement of Igor - Russia's first qualified Irish dance teacher.
This September will see the third open feis in Moscow, run by Therese and Igor
